My name is Carol Cardoso and I founded Kučeravé because Slovakia lacked a place where women, men, and children with curly hair could find everything they needed in one place. From soft waves to bouncy curls to afro hair. Our mission is to show that curls are not a problem, but a gift. Today, Kučeravé is the largest and most professional online store for curly hair in Slovakia.
My twisted story
I have been building my relationship with my curls for years. As a mixed-race woman, I never had "typically Slovak" hair, but neither did I have purely Afro hair, which often left me feeling somewhere in between. For a long time, I hid my hair and straightened it instead of accepting my natural look.
An impulse for change
Turning point came during the pandemic, when I stopped using my flat iron every day. For the first time in years, I let my hair grow naturally and started looking for ways to care for it without damaging it. I discovered that with the right products and techniques, hair can go from being a struggle to a joy.
It was at this time that the idea arose to create a space where curly hair could get exactly what it needs—from basic care to styling and accessories.
How did the Kučeravé online store come about?
When I started building my online store and meeting other people, I realized that this story was much broader. A large proportion of people naturally have wavy or curly hair, but they just didn't realize it for a long time. They thought it was unruly and needed to be straightened, but in reality, it just needed a different approach and proper care.
It was these experiences that convinced me that Kučeravé makes sense. My personal story has become a place that today helps thousands of people discover the beauty of their hair.
I combined my passion for curls with my experience in the digital world and gradually built a brand that has become a market leader. Today, Kučeravé offers carefully selected brands from around the world that have been proven by practice and customer experience.
